I know it’s not September quiiiite yet, but it’s close. And I’ve tasted the first hint of autumn and it’s my very favorite.

Tap tap. This thing on? 🤓

It’s been a really rough week and a half, and after several months of feeling *really good* over all (compared to the last few years), seeing a marked regression has been hard. I don’t know if it’s related to the cold snap we had, other life things, or nothing at all … but I do know it’s been pretty miserable and painful. And if you’ve seen me at all over the last 10 days, this may confuse you greatly. 😅 (one of my main skills in life is looking completely fine on the outside while feeling awful. 😂)

I’ve had a few tests this week, have another doctor appointment tomorrow, and have taken many, many naps.

But mainly what I want to say is this: though the pain and weakness and fatigue have returned …… the Lord never left. He was with me through the dark times in the past, He was with me during the times of good health, and He is with me still.

I don’t know how long this bout will go on, but I know how long the Lord will be faithful — forever and ever.

And it’s been a sweet gift to pick up my paintbrush again during this time and create beautiful things out of the pain and fog. Most of my inspiration for painting seems to come when my physical body is weak and weary, and it’s like a drink of fresh water on a hot day. 💛

Continuing to take one day at a time, and to remember to rejoice in each of them — whatever they hold. Trusting that this season, too, shall pass, and yet so thankful for the opportunity to be driven to the feet of my Savior again in utter dependence on His strength.

November is also a great month to start painting again. 💛

Everyone knows about “writer’s block”.

Artist’s block is also a real thing and I’ve been struggling with it the past year or more. The ache to create is there, but actually creating anything is like trying to drink peanut butter through a straw. Chunky peanut butter.

But over the past several weeks, the creative process has slowly been blossoming again and I’m so thankful! ✨🪴

There has always been a correlation through my years as an artist of the most inspiration coming during some of the harder times physically/mentally. And that proves itself still true.

The Lord is so gracious to continually show Himself so faithful in the trials, and to gently show my soul beauty in the midst of brokenness.

I don’t say this flippantly: He is good. Constantly and unfalteringly good. 💛
